Comprehensive Sample Preprtation Suite

✯ Precision Ion Polishing System (PIPS)
A Gatan PIPS precision ion polishing system provides final thinning of samples to electron transparency with controlled ion milling. It is essential for preparing uniform, damage-free specimens especially from bulk materials. .
✯ Dimple Grinder
The Gatan Dimple Grinder enables mechanical thinning of pre-thinned disks, creating a “dimpled” region with reduced thickness at the sample center. This focused preparation significantly reduces subsequent ion milling time and improves sample quality. .
✯ Disk Punch & Diamond Cutter
Mechanical sectioning tools such as disk punches and diamond cutters allow precise cutting of small specimen disks from larger materials. These tools ensure optimal sample size and geometry for efficient TEM processing. .
✯ Carbon Coater
A Quorum carbon coater is used for applying thin, conductive carbon films on samples, which is critical for minimizing charging and enhancing image quality during TEM imaging. .
